thejamjar’s gallery has evolved into a contemporary project space responding to the needs of the local artistic community by fostering creativity through artist residencies and an accompanying public programme.
Through an artist residency programme UAE based artists will be given the opportunity to realise a new body of work through research, experimentation, and dialogue.
An accompanying public programme will allow for interaction and dialogue through workshops, talks and open days allowing audiences to understand and respond feeding into the artistic practice.
The progression into a project space is a natural step for thejamjar; in its support to locally based artists and in it’s ethos of making art accessible. ‘The aim is to create a space where interaction, dialogue and education can shape both the artist’s practice and the communities knowledge of the arts’, say Rachael Brown, Head of Special Project. ‘We hope that this opportunity will progress an artists career to the next level, maybe even gallery representation, while inspiring and influencing young artists in the region.’
