Exodus, Sultan Al Ramahi

/ About: OCCUPY provides the opportunity for artists to take over thejamjar’s front window for a few months during the year on a rotating basis. The prime location at Alserkal Avenue offers the artist exposure at one of the most important art hubs in the world. Every few months we will put out a call out or invite an artist to ‘occupy’ our window with their art. / About the Artist / For its second round, Sultan Al Ramahi an Emirati Architect and Fine Arts graduate from Washington State University has been selected to take over the front window of thejamjar. An Illustrator based in Abu Dhabi, by day he is at the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council,

by night you can find him doodling on anything. / About the artwork His artwork titled ‘Exodus’ began as a simple doodle that mushroomed over time. In the work Palestine, 'Where’s Waldo', and shadow men from nights of sleep paralysis make appearances in the subject’s mind. Exodus grew more complex and dense over time as he continued to plot random everyday experiences on it. The illustration reveals creatures taken and inspired by pop cultures, other illustrators, and characters that he has been developing over the years.
